5TH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
Questions for the Week:
FIRST READING: ISAIAH 58:7-10
We hear from Isaiah that the Lord expects us to feed the hungry, clothe the naked, and avoid false accusations and hateful speech. Which of these virtues could you practice this week?
SECOND READING: 1 CORINTHIANS 2:1-5
Paul encourages the Corinthians to ground their faith in the power of God and not in human wisdom. How can you make this a regular habit?
GOSPEL: MATTHEW 5:13-16
Jesus challenges his disciples to have a positive influence in the world. Who do you know makes the world a better place?

A Word from Fr Danny:
In the Gospel, Our Lord makes a distinction between our light and our good works. He says, “In the same way, your light must shine in the sight of men, so that, seeing your good works, they may give praise to your Father in heaven.” Our good works can be seen, but they are not themselves the light. This raises an important question: what is our light, and what makes our good works truly pleasing and meritorious in the sight of God?
The Church teaches that this light is found in the life of virtue, formed and sustained by grace. As the Catechism explains in paragraph 1803, “A virtuous person tends toward the good with all his sensory and spiritual powers; he pursues the good and chooses it in concrete actions.” These virtues are so important in the Christian life that the Church looks to the practice of heroic virtue as one of the signs when recognising the saints, because it reveals a life deeply formed by grace and ordered to God.

RETREATS
Pilgrimage of Mercy | Women’s Retreat
Date/Time - Fri 29 May - Sun 31 May 5:00pm - 12:00pm
Being led by Grace to the River of Mercy
Come as you are; weary, wondering, or wide open. Journey with us into a sacred space of rest, reflection, and renewal.
Guided by Sr. Kat Stone (MGL Australia) and Retreat leader and coach Jen (Aust. Cert in leadership in Ministry), this Spirit-led retreat is an invitation to step away from the noise of life and walk gently toward the stillness of divine mercy.
Through prayer, silence, sacred conversation, and moments of still waters, you’ll be led – not by striving – but by grace, into the tender current of God’s healing presence.
This is a pilgrimage for the heart – a return to the mercy that was never withheld, only forgotten. You don’t need to earn it. You simply need to follow and allow God to minister to you.
