33RD SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
Questions for the Week:
FIRST READING: MALACHI 3:19-20
The prophet Malachi tells us that those who “fear” the Lord will be spared at God’s coming judgment. What does it mean to “fear the Lord”?
SECOND READING: 2 THESSALONIANS 3:7-12
Paul gave the Thessalonians some very practical advice: work quietly and eat your own food! Are you open to taking advice from a loved one?
GOSPEL: LUKE 21:5-19
Jesus forewarned his followers that they will be persecuted for their faith in him, even with relatives and friends. How do you support friends and co-workers who are fellow believers?

A Word from Fr Danny:
When we see young people receive the Sacraments of Confirmation and First Holy Communion, what is our response? Do these moments remind us of our own experience of the Sacraments? Do you remember your Confirmation sponsor? Do you pray for them? Do you pray for your godchildren and the Confirmation candidates you have sponsored?
More importantly, Confirmation is the Sacrament in which we receive a new grace to proclaim the faith boldly. In the Gospel, Christ promises: “I myself shall give you an eloquence and a wisdom that none of your opponents will be able to resist or contradict.” If we are attentive, the Lord will lead us into moments where we must rely on His wisdom to respond faithfully and to help build His Kingdom. Often, it is precisely when we find ourselves beyond our comfort zone that God can work most powerfully—reaching others in the way He desires, with the words He wishes to speak through us.
