28TH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
Questions for the Week:
FIRST READING: 2 KINGS 5:14-17
Naaman was cleansed of leprosy and committed to worshipping no other god except the Lord. What might be one commitment you could make to the Lord in the coming days?
SECOND READING: 2 TIMOTHY 2:8-13
Paul teaches Timothy the importance of perseverance in faith. What are some obstacles you have had to overcome in life?
GOSPEL: LUKE 17:11-19
Jesus praises the cleansed leper who returned to thank him personally. Is there someone in your life that you should be thanking?

A Word from Fr Danny:
Today, Jesus cures ten lepers, yet only the Samaritan returns. When we are cured spiritually through the sacraments, especially in the Sacrament of Reconciliation, how do we emulate the man cured of leprosy in the Gospel? He turned back to Christ, praised God at the top of his voice, and threw himself at the feet of Jesus, thanking Him.
Just because we do not see the healing we receive in the Sacrament of Confession does not mean that it does not happen. The spiritual leprosy of sin causes a real separation between us and the Body of Christ.
Are not all those elements present in the man who was cured also present in the Mass? We turn back to God in the Penitential Rite, expressing our desire for conversion—our turning around. Then we sing, praising God; we drop to our knees, adoring the Lord; and finally, we give thanks by being present and receiving Our Lord in the Eucharist, which means “thanksgiving.”
