26TH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
Questions for the Week:
FIRST READING: AMOS 6:1,4-7
The prophet Amos is critical of the Israelites living in luxury while ignoring the social decay surrounding them. How can we avoid such insensitivity to the pain and suffering of others?
SECOND READING: 1 TIMOTHY 6:11-16
Paul encourages Timothy to be a strong and faithful leader, focusing on the return of Jesus and the goal of eternal life. Who encourages you in your faith life?
GOSPEL: LUKE 16:19-31
Jesus forewarns the Pharisees about the great reversal in the afterlife awaiting the self-centered rich and the desperately poor. With whom could you be generous this week?

A Word from Fr Danny:
The Gospel today is entirely parable, and whereas Our Lord often provides the explanation Himself, here it is a character within the parable—namely Abraham—who offers the explanation. Abraham references Moses twice, which is striking, especially given that Moses lived some four hundred years after Abraham.
Might Our Lord be using Abraham, rather than Himself, to explain the parable because, after the Resurrection, we are meant to identify Christ with Lazarus? Lazarus is the one cast outside the gate, just as Christ was cast outside the city gate when He was crucified. It is Christ who was so disfigured, no longer one to be admired or desired in that moment. It is Christ who longs to quench His thirst—not with water or scraps of food, but with our sins and our imperfect motivations, offered to Him in trust.
- Fr Danny
Thank you all for the trust and generosity you showed in last year’s appeal. Together, we supported people and places where the love of Christ is needed most — from chaplaincy and Catholic education, to family outreach and faith formation.
This year, our campaign is titled ‘Planted in Christ, Reaching in Love.’ It is a call to remain firmly grounded in our relationship with Jesus and, from that place of strength, extend ourselves to others with care, mercy, and hope.
Your gift will help carry out this mission through:
▪ Supporting clergy and lay formation
▪ Enriching Catholic identity in our schools and parishes
▪ Providing chaplaincy and outreach to the sick, the struggling, and the seeking
In every parish, in every home, in every heart, we’re called to grow deeper and reach further. Please prayerfully consider a donation to this year’s Appeal.
Every gift — no matter the size — helps build a Church that is alive in Christ and present in love.
Envelopes with further information including details on how to donate are available in the Church foyer or click the button below to donate online.
