25TH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
Questions for the Week:
FIRST READING: AMOS 8:4-7
Amos forewarns those who exploit the poor and disadvantaged that God will remember their greed and corruption. How might you lend a helping hand this week to others in need?
SECOND READING: 1 TIMOTHY 2:1-8
Paul instructs Timothy on the necessity of openness and generosity in prayer. What do you think makes for a strong prayer life?
GOSPEL: LUKE 16:1-13
In the parable of the dishonest steward, the disciples learn the importance of honesty and prudence in daily living. What other virtues would you add for the life of a Christian today?

A Word from Fr Danny:
For Christ to tell a parable in which the master praises a dishonest steward is not what we expect. It unsettles us—and perhaps that is exactly the point. While the steward is really praised for his astuteness, it remains an unsettling image, and maybe that is deliberate. The Lord is showing us that even worldly people act with urgency and focus when their future is on the line. Should we as Christians not act with even greater intensity concerning our eternal life?
Think of Pip and Joe in Great Expectations: their friendship is marked by an interplay of money, loyalty, and self-giving. Wealth is never an end in itself, but a tool meant to serve higher goods—especially friendship and love.
Sometimes strange or unexpected examples—like an obscure reference to a Dickens novel—can help us think more deeply and see the something from a fresh angle.
- Fr Danny
Thank you all for the trust and generosity you showed in last year’s appeal. Together, we supported people and places where the love of Christ is needed most — from chaplaincy and Catholic education, to family outreach and faith formation.
This year, our campaign is titled ‘Planted in Christ, Reaching in Love.’ It is a call to remain firmly grounded in our relationship with Jesus and, from that place of strength, extend ourselves to others with care, mercy, and hope.
Your gift will help carry out this mission through:
▪ Supporting clergy and lay formation
▪ Enriching Catholic identity in our schools and parishes
▪ Providing chaplaincy and outreach to the sick, the struggling, and the seeking
In every parish, in every home, in every heart, we’re called to grow deeper and reach further. Please prayerfully consider a donation to this year’s Appeal.
Every gift — no matter the size — helps build a Church that is alive in Christ and present in love.
Envelopes with further information including details on how to donate are available in the Church foyer or click the button below to donate online.
