THE MOST HOLY BODY & BLOOD OF CHRIST
Questions for the Week:
FIRST READING: GENESIS 14:18-20
In reaction to the thanksgiving meal of bread and wine, Abram generously gave Melchizedek a tenth of his possessions. What could you give back to God this week out of gratitude?
SECOND READING: 1 CORINTHIANS 11:23-26
Paul tells us from the very beginning the early Church celebrated the Eucharistic meal as a remembrance of Jesus’ death and as central to our faith. How does the Eucharist strengthen your faith?
GOSPEL: LUKE 9:11-17
The miracle of the feeding of the 5,000 underscores Jesus’ desire to feed us. What do you find yourself hungry for today?

A Word from Fr John Jolliffe:
Today is the feast of the Body and Blood of Our Lord Jesus Christ. Every Mass is a re-enactment of Our Lord’s Last Supper. In the power of his promise, bread changes into the body of Christ; wine changes into the blood of Christ. Jesus comes present in the mystery of his body broken and blood shed for us. He comes in the mysteries of his life, death, and resurrection for our salvation. Before Communion we beg, “Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world, have mercy on us.” Jesus becomes the vital food for our journey of faith through all our human sufferings, trials, and our joys. He unites with us intimately in Holy Communion, one with us in body and spirit, and he invites us to follow him with joy through life.
