6th Sunday of Easter
Questions for the Week:
FIRST READING: ACTS 15:1-2,22-29
We hear how the church in Jerusalem resolved their conflicts through dialogue and compromise. When has your faith community had to resolve a conflict?
SECOND READING: APOCALYPSE 21:10-14,22-23
As John’s final vision continues, he sees the splendor and glory of God lighting the city of Jerusalem. Can you think of a time when you felt really close to God?
GOSPEL: JOHN 14:23-29
Jesus taught his disciples that the Holy Spirit will be sent to believers to teach them and remind them of his words. Can you share a time when you have felt inspired by the Holy Spirit?

A Word from Fr Danny:
As we near the end of the Easter Season—with the Ascension next Sunday and Pentecost to follow—Jesus speaks of the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in His name.
The word Advocate means Helper or Comforter—“one who pleads another's cause, a defender.”
This calls to mind a powerful moment in Les Misérables, when Jean Valjean is recaptured by the police after stealing silver from Bishop Myriel. Instead of condemning him, the Bishop shows mercy, saying: "I am glad to see you… I gave you the candlesticks too, which are of silver like the rest... Why did you not take them along with your plates?"
Such mercy transforms Valjean’s life. How comforting to know we have such an Advocate in the Holy Spirit—always guiding, defending, and consoling. And in the Gospel, Christ immediately offers, as a fruit of this advocacy, a peace the world cannot give.
