12TH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
REFLECT & PRAY
A Word from Fr Danny:
In the Gospel, Jesus says: “What you hear in whispers, proclaim from the housetops.” What might He mean by this?
To hear a whisper, one must be close and attentive. It requires silence, nearness, and careful listening. Only then can what is heard be spoken with confidence and clarity.
Christ is the One who “whispers,” drawing the disciple into the intimacy of prayer. Yet in prayer we do not ordinarily receive spoken words. Rather, it is a communion of love, a “heart speaking to heart” (cor ad cor loquitur), as St John Henry Newman describes it.
What is received in this hidden encounter with Christ is not to remain private. The gift of prayer is meant to shape our lives and be made visible in witness. How, then, do we live in such a way that others may see this union with Christ in us? For this is what we are commanded to proclaim. What is heard in the quiet of prayer is to be lived in the daily witness of our lives.

Questions for the Week:
FIRST READING: JEREMIAH 20:10-13
Jeremiah trusts in the Lord despite his fear of being attacked and persecuted. Can you think of a time when you had to totally trust in God?
SECOND READING: ROMANS 5:12-15
Paul compares and contrasts the impact of Adam and Christ on our lives. Who would you say has made the biggest impact on your life so far?
GOSPEL: MATTHEW 10:26-33
Jesus warns his disciples against spiritual forces that seek to destroy both the body and the soul. Where do you see malevolent spiritual forces at work in our world?

A GRACE-FILLED TIME.....
The Lord has been at work in so many hearts in our community over the past few weeks. Involvement in Alpha, the Pilgrimage of Mercy Women’s Retreat in Auckland, Couples for Christ Christian Life Programme, Rebuild My Church Conference with Dr Mary Healy in Hamilton and the pilgrimage and mission with the relic of St Carlo Acutis in Rotorua has nurtured hearts and grown faith in our community.
Over 200 people including several parishioners from Tongariro Catholic, gathered on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings last week to hear Dr Mary Healy explore scripture, the Holy Spirit and mission.
Alpha continues on Thursdays in Taupõ with people exploring the Catholic faith, reconnecting with church, or deepening their relationship with Jesus.
Last Sunday some of our young people gathered in Rotorua for the Diocesan Youth Day and Mass with the relics of St Carlo Acutis.
Recently Couples For Christ Taupõ completed their 3rd Christian Life Programme
A group from St Patrick’s School Taupõ travelled to St. John Paul College, Rotorua where relics of St. Carlo Acutis were visiting. A time of prayer and grace.
Six women from our parish travelled to Auckland for the “Pilgrimage of Mercy” women’s retreat with Sr Kat Stone MGL.
