19TH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
Questions for the Week:
FIRST READING: WISDOM 18:6-9
The Book of Wisdom speaks of having faith and courage in the knowledge of God’s providence. What do you pray for God to provide for you and your family?
SECOND READING: HEBREWS 11:1-2,8-19
Hebrews cites Abraham as the model of faith and trust in the Lord. Who would you hold up today as a role model for our faith?
GOSPEL: LUKE 12:32-48
Jesus teaches the disciples to be vigilant and prudent with the gifts God has given to each of us. What are some of your gifts that you share with others?

A Word from Fr Danny:
Pope John Paul II began his pontificate with the words: “Do not be afraid. Open wide the doors for Christ.” In saying this, he was not proclaiming anything new—for Christ Himself says in today’s Gospel: “There is no need to be afraid.” But do we truly take the words of Christ seriously?
What drives out fear? One might try to ignore it with a kind of naïve optimism—a Pollyanna approach. Or one can take the Pope’s advice to heart: “Do not be afraid to welcome Christ and accept His power.”
It is Christ’s power that drives out fear. It is Christ’s power that gives us the courage not only to follow Him, but to do so joyfully, even in the face of the challenges and hardships that inevitably come.
And this power of Christ comes to us in the sacraments—through the priesthood in the Sacrament of Holy Orders, which, as the Catechism says #1551, “communicates a ‘sacred power’ which is none other than that of Christ.”
