2ND SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
Questions for the Week:
FIRST READING: ISAIAH 49:3,5-6
Isaiah teaches that God chose Israel to reveal His glory and bring salvation to the world. Why do you think God uses people to do His will?
SECOND READING: 1 CORINTHIANS 1:1-3
Paul opens his letter to the Corinthians with a plea for unity and holiness of all believers. Where do you see your faith community unified and holy?
GOSPEL: JOHN 1:29-34
John the Baptist testifies to others that Jesus is the Son of God who will baptize with the Holy Spirit. With whom do you talk about Jesus?

A Word from Fr Danny:
What is the first colour mentioned in the Bible? In the opening chapter of Genesis, God tells us that he has given humanity “every green plant for food.” From the very beginning, green is associated with life, nourishment, and God’s generous provision.
This Sunday is the Second Sunday in Ordinary Time, and the liturgical colour is green. The word ordinary can suggest something dull or unimportant, but in the Church’s liturgy it means something quite different. Ordinary comes from the Latin ordinalis, from which we get the word order. Ordinary Time is not lesser time, but time that is ordered and numbered, the steady rhythm in which Christian life is lived and faith is allowed to grow.
The Church gives us two periods of Ordinary Time. The first comes after Christmas and before Lent. The second, and longer period, stretches from Pentecost until Advent. These are the weeks in which we listen attentively to the Lord’s teaching, follow him in the Gospel, and allow his grace to take root in our daily lives.
Green, then, is a fitting colour. It speaks of hope, of verdant pastures, of growth and tranquillity. It reminds us that even when nothing dramatic seems to be happening, God is quietly at work, bringing life and fruitfulness to his people.

DIOCESAN NEWS & EVENTS
Called by Name is a Catholic Summer Camp for children going into Year 7, up to those who have just completed Year 9.
Run by Catholic parents, this event has been supported by the Bernadette Trust through the Catholic Diocese of Hamilton.
The main purpose is to help children enter their tumultuous teenage years knowing they are seen, known and loved by God, that there is a plan and a purpose for their lives.
The camp will endeavour to encourage our youth to begin the journey of taking ownership of their own prayer life, by giving them the time and space at camp to listen to testimonies of older teens, spend time in personal prayer, Adoration, and be given the opportunity for Confession, while having summer camp-style fun with other Catholic kids.
